Senior 3D Generalist (m/f/d)
Location: hybrid – Munich office
We are setting up our studio, Thera Bytes, with a new focus - dedicated to developing core games for PC and consoles, with an emphasis on first-person gameplay in Unreal Engine 5. In your role as senior 3D generalist and alongside the small management team of three, you will take our visuals to the next level.
Your Responsibilities

​As our senior 3D generalist, you will take on a leadership role, acting as the main link between the art team and management, especially the Creative Director. You will be responsible for ensuring artistic quality, streamlining workflows, and improving collaboration between departments. In addition to hands-on asset creation, you will setup processes, coordinate with different teams, and contribute to high-level creative decisions to maintain consistency across projects.

Create and optimize high-quality 3D assets (characters, environments, props) from high-poly to low-poly, ensuring top-tier visual quality.

Collaborate closely with designers and programmers to integrate assets seamlessly into Unreal Engine.

Balance creative vision with technical constraints, ensuring efficient workflows and optimized performance.

Take ownership of the 3D art pipeline, improving processes and ensuring smooth coordination between departments.

Provide artistic direction, refining the visual identity of our projects while staying aligned with market trends.

Act as a point of contact between the art team and management, ensuring clear communication and alignment with project goals.
Your Profile​

5+ years of experience in 3D art for games, with a strong portfolio (applications without a portfolio will not be considered).

At least one released game in a similar position.

Expertise in Blender, Maya, 3ds Max, ZBrush, and Substance Painter.

Strong knowledge of human anatomy, architecture, and environmental design.

Unreal Engine experience and an understanding of real-time asset implementation.

Excellent leadership and communication skills – you’re the bridge between artists, designers, and management.

Experience managing workflows and setting up and improving processes in game art production.

Passion for games and art.

Fluent in English.

Willingness and eagerness to learn new things and adapt to evolving technologies.
Big Pluses

Experience in VFX and animation – a strong plus!

Knowledge of hair grooming, scripting, or technical art.
